The Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii

Harding Partners is working with the preeminent Catholic liturgical consultant, Dick Vosko, on the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii restoration and addition design. The project includes a restoration of the Shrine and the development of a glass enclosed courtyard to be used for fellowship activities. The finest elements from the Shrine’s past, such as the original plaster columns in the sanctuary area that have long been covered, will be restored. The design also incorporates elements of the best current liturgical design, like the unique stone floor that will be inlayed with stones from Shrines around the world.

The Shrine and Conference Center are also being altered to meet handicap accessibility standards to create a hospitable and spiritual visit for all. Innovative green strategies are being incorporated into the buildings, including displacement cooling systems, which will reduce energy consumption and operating costs.
